Robinson and South County Secondary School students earned Scholastic Writing Awards.

South County and Robinson Secondary School students were recognized for their writing recently.

Sixty-seven Fairfax County Public School students were given 102 regional awards for the 2012 Scholastic Writing Awards. The program is sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, a national organization which has been recognizing student work since 1923.

A reading for regional winners will be held at Busboys and Poets at 2021 14th Street N.W. in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Feb. 26, and an open house for writers and jurors will be held at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda on Saturday, March 3, according to an FCPS press release.

Students were honored for their work in dramatic scripts, journalism, poetry, and writing portfolios, among other talents.

This year, some of the top regional writing will be published in a collection of best teen writing. Student writers will design and edit the collection themselves and the book will be available for sale at Busboys and Poets and at Politics and Prose.
