Robinson Sports Roundup: Girls Basketball Moves To 4-1

Rams sports capsules for the week of Dec. 15

Boys Basketball (4-2):

Robinson notched its fourth win of the season Tuesday, defeating West Springfield 57-31. Four days earlier, the Rams suffered a tough 77-75 overtime loss to rival Lake Braddock. 

Against West Springfield, the Robinson defense was tenacious, limiting the Spartans to just 12 first half points. Jared Steen led the Rams in scoring with 14 points and Nathan Hackett contributed with 10.

In the overtime loss to Lake Braddock, Robert Pillow put on a miraculous display of shooting, hitting seven three-pointers in a 25-point losing effort. Tristian Crenshaw (19) and Nathan Hackett (15) also scored in double digits.

Up next: Robinson travels to Fairfax on Dec. 16 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

JV Boys Basketball (3-0):

Robinson JV basketball remains undefeated after wins against Lake Braddock (70-68) and West Springfield (62-41).

Up Next: Robinson travels to Fairfax on Dec. 16 for a 5:45 p.m. tipoff.

Girls Basketball (4-1):

The Rams suffered their first loss of the season on Dec. 13, losing 41-38 in overtime to the defending Northern Region champion West Springfield Spartans. Megan Green’s 11-point performance helped Robinson overcome a three-point halftime deficit and push the game into overtime. West Springfield outscored Robinson 5-2 in overtime to hang on for the victory.

Robinson defeated Lake Braddock 54-31 on Dec. 9 and limited the Bruins to just six first half points. Tyler Hansen (14), Brigitte Kuter (14) and Leeah Betourd (10) led the team in scoring.

JV Girls Basketball (1-2):

Girls JV basketball dropped to 1-2 on the season after losses to Lake Braddock (57-35) and West Springfield (65-28).

Up Next: The team hosts Mount Vernon on Dec. 20 at 5:45 p.m.

Robinson Swim and Dive:

The boys swim and dive team defeated Centreville 212-103 while the girls won 187-128.

Up Next: Both teams face Chantilly on Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Varsity Wrestling:

Robinson wrestlers competed and placed 19th in the Walsh Ironman Tournament in Cuyahoga, Ohio, Dec. 9-10.

Up Next: The team competes in the Beast of the East Tournament at the University of Delaware Dec. 17-18.
