Ram field hockey, football and volleyball from September 21 to September 27

Robinson Field Hockey (3-8):

The Rams snapped their five-game skid and picked up a 1-0 home victory over Washington-Lee (4-6) on Tuesday, September 27. The win gives Robinson three wins (Falls Church, Green Run and Washington-Lee) on the season.

The team’s Wednesday, September 28 game against Lake Braddock (8-3) has been postponed and will be played on later date which has yet to be determined. The Rams travel to Westfield (10-2) on Friday, September 30 and Oakton (8-1) on Tuesday, October 4.

JV Field Hockey (2-5-1):

J.V. Field Hockey suffered two losses this week, dropping two close contests. The Rams were defeated 1-0 by Lake Braddock on Thursday, September 22 and 1-0 by Washington-Lee on Tuesday, September 27.

The Rams have road games against Westfield on Friday, September 30 and Oakton on Thursday, October 4. With just four games remaining on their schedule, the team will look to add a couple more wins and finish the season on a positive note.

Robinson Football (1-3):

Robinson was defeated 28-0 by Westfield (4-0) on Friday, September 23. The loss gives Robinson a 0-1 Concorde district record but leaves them still in the hunt for post-season play. Ram running back Tyrek Worrell rushed for a team high 74 yards on 18 carries and quarterback Michael Hugney completed one pass for 14 yards to wide receiver David Cook.

Robinson travels to South County (1-3) this Friday, September 30. South County is coming off their first win of the season as they defeated T.C. Williams (1-3) 35-13 last Friday.

JV Football (2-1-1):

After defeating West Springfield 14-12 on Monday, September 19, the Rams suffered a 31-12 loss to Westfield on Thursday, September 22. With the season nearly halfway complete, Robinson’s J.V. squad has a road game against South County on Saturday, October 1.

Robinson Volleyball (7-6):

Robinson varsity volleyball defeated West Springfield (8-3) 3-2 on Thursday, September 22. Robinson hosted the 2011 Dig Pink Tournament, a tournament and fundraiser for breast cancer research, which featured Langley (8-5) and W.T. Woodson (11-1). The Rams defeated Langley 3-0 in the tournament opener and lost 3-2 to Woodson in the team’s second tournament match.

The Rams also lost 3-0 to Stone Bridge (11-2) on Tuesday, September 27.

Up next, Robinson travels to Flint Hill on Wednesday, September 28 and hosts Lake Braddock (15-1) on Saturday, October 1.

J.V. Volleyball (1-5):

J.V. Volleyball suffered four tough losses this week. The team was defeated by West Springfield, Langley (twice) and Stone Bridge. Robinson looks to rebound as they face Lake Braddock on Saturday, October 1, South County on Monday, October 3 and Westfield on Wednesday, October 5.
