So Many School Days Canceled—Could Last Day of School Get Pushed Back?

Whether or not school is canceled Friday could determine the last day of the school year in June.

If you're thinking of making June vacation plans this year—you may want to hold off a bit.

Thursday, Jan. 23 marks the sixth day of school canceled this year in the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) district.

Once we hit day seven, the last day of school will get pushed out.

The last day of the 2013-14 school year is currently scheduled for Friday, June 20. However, once the district reaches seven days of inclement weather cancellations, the last day of school will be pushed back to Monday, June 23.

The district gets a pass with the eighth cancellation day, but upon day nine, the last day of school will get pushed back to Tuesday, June 24, according to FCPS.

As of now, the district has already canceled two planned holidays—there will no longer be days off for President's Day, Feb. 17 or for the student holiday/teacher work day on April 7.

What do you think about all these canceled days? How would you feel about the last day of school getting pushed back? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
