Stallion field hockey, football and volleyball from September 28 to October 4

Stallion Field Hockey (9-3):

Erica Smedberg scored the team’s only goal in the Stallions' 1-0 victory over Langley (5-8) on Wednesday, Sept. 28. South County also decisively defeated T.C. Williams (8-6-1) 4-0 on Friday, Sept. 30. Stephanie Halsted and Alexis Schramm scored two goals in the contest. Jackie Best, Meredith Bradsher, Isabel Josephs and Sydney Southard each contributed with one assist. Goalkeeper Kendall Clifton had two saves.

The Stallions host West Potomac (4-7-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and travel to Oakton (9-1) on Thursday, Oct. 6. South County is currently 4-0 in Patriot District play.

J.V. Field Hockey (3-1-3):

J.V. Field Hockey defeated T.C. Williams 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 30, for their third win of the season. The team's Sept. 28 game at Langley was cancelled. The Stallions have a home game against West Potomac on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and a road game at Oakton on Thursday, Oct. 6.

Stallion Football (2-3):

 Michael Ferguson’s 27-yard overtime field goal gave South County a 13-10 victory over Robinson (1-4) on Friday, Sept. 30. The win was the team’s second in as many weeks. Ferguson, who also doubles as wide receiver, kicked two field goals (38, 27) in the low scoring contest. Defensive back Andrew Rector tied the game in the fourth quarter after returning a 93-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The Stallions travel to Lake Braddock (3-2) on Thursday, Oct. 6.

J.V. Football (1-2):

J.V.  football was defeated 20-6 by Robinson on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Stallions are on a two-game losing streak and will look to rebound with a victory over Lake Braddock on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Stallion Volleyball (13-4):

Stallion volleyball extended its winning streak to six with a 3-0 victory over Robinson (7-7) on Monday, Oct. 3. The Stallions defeated Robinson 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21 in three matches.

Senior Kathryn Moore currently ranks ninth in kills in the Patriot District with 40.

South County travels to Woodson (13-2) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 in a marquee season match-up. The Stallions will look for revenge as Woodson defeated them 2-0 on Sept. 3 in the 1st Annual Cassel Invitation Tournament consolation game. The team also hosts Liberty District juggernaut Stone Bridge (12-2) on Thursday, Oct. 6.

J.V. Volleyball (5-2):

South County’s J.V. volleyball team defeated Herndon 2-0 on Monday, Sept. 26 and Robinson 2-1 on Monday, Oct. 3. The two wins snap a two-game losing streak and gives the team five wins on the season.

The Stallions travel to Woodson on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and host Stone Bridge on Thursday, Oct. 6.
