South County Student Project Benefits Troops

South County Secondary School students collected used cell phones


South County Secondary School students recently held a cell phone drive to benefit troops serving overseas. 

The school club Future Business Leaders of America collected more then 60 old cell phones from students and staff, according to a press release from Fairfax County Public Schools.

Cell phones are being sent to the Florida-based GRC Wireless Recycling, with donates $30 per phone to Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude is a non-profit organization that uses funds from the cell phones to create care packages for the troops.
