Fairfax Station Girl to Play in National Track and Field Event

A Fairfax Station girl was chosen to play in the upcoming Hershey’s Track & Field North American Final.

Emma Yates, 12, will participate in the softball throw this Saturday. The event, now in its 35th year, draws over 400 promising track and field athletes to Hershey, Pa., according to a press release issued by the Hershey Company, which is sponsoring the event. The athletes are between 9 and 14 years old.

Yates was the Virginia state champion in the softball throw in 2010, finished third in 2011 and is state champion again in 2012. This is the first year she has qualified for the North American Finals.
