Olympics: NoVA Residents, Foreign Teams

Two Olympic soccer players from Northern Virginia will play in London - but not for Team USA.

When 2012 Olympic soccer gets underway this week, there will be two players on the pitch who have roots in Northern Virginia. They won't be wearing red, white and blue, however.

Nataly Arias starred on the girls team at Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington and later at the University of Maryland. Arias, 26, whose mother hails from Colombia, has been playing with the Colombian women's team since 2010.

Colombia opens play Wednesday against North Korea.Β 

Andy Najar, 19, a former player at Edison High in Alexandria who currently plays Major League Soccer with D.C. United, will be representing Honduras in London.

The men's Olympic soccer teams are comprised of players age 23 and under.Β
