Clifton Caboose Twilight Run Kicks Off Saturday

The annual event benefits improvements around town.

The 15th annual Clifton Caboose Twilight Run, which winds through the historic town, is scheduled for this Saturday.

The 5K-run and 1-mile run brings racers through Clifton and raises money for the Clifton Betterment Association, which is organizing the event. The CBA hopes to use the money toward the rewiring of the town barn off of Clifton’s Main Street, where many community events take place.

“We have people from all over the area come out,” said Gary Anderson, who is helping to put on the event.

More than 400 runners have registered for the event so far, and Anderson expects more to turn up the day of the event.

“Last year, we had over 300 participants and raised nearly $8,000 in preservation funds. This year, we hope to increase those numbers substantially,” said Michelle Stein, president of the Clifton Betterment Association.

The run begins at 6 p.m. at the barn at 7139 Main St. in Clifton. It also includes, food, drinks and live music after the race.

Organizers will present medals to overall first, second, and third-place winners. There will also be separate medals given to winners in various age groups.

“I get feedback from some people saying they enjoy the Twilight Race because they don’t have to get up so early and they have an event afterwards,” Anderson said. “It’s not the most common thing.”
