Music at Burke Lake Park, A Civil War Encampment and the 65th Annual Fairfax County 4-H Fair

What have you got going on this weekend?

The weekend! Whew. You made it. Here are some area happenings that may help you wind down on Saturday and Sunday:

1. Start Saturday off right with Ryan Buckle & Friends at the Burke Lake Park Amphitheater. The free performance is part of the Arts in the Parks concert series and will be held from 11 a.m. - noon.

2. From now until Sunday, Aug. 4, enjoy the 65th Annual 4-H Fair and Farm Show  at  Frying Pan Farm Park. There, you’ll find carnival games, rides, fair exhibits and a tractor pull. The Fair runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Carnival rides are open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday. The tractor pull begins 5 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the 4-H Fair is free.

3. Are you a history buff? Enjoy the Civil War Encampment Weekend as federal and Confederate troops will re-create Civil War daily life as re-enactors demonstrate the varied work of the army at Sully Historic Site. And rest assured, there will be daily skirmishes. There will also be live music and a fashion show. The event runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $9 per adult, $7 per senior.

4. Are you a fan of the "Downton Abbey" television series? Well, in their Downton Abbey Takes on the Twenties program, Greenspring Gardens in Alexandria will host their own Roaring 20's party in the historic mansion. The price of admission is $29.
