Weekend Planner: Zombie 5k, Fall Carnival, Arts Gala

Slouch Like a Zombie. The undead aren’t known for their posture, but they have to move fast if they want to eat … brrraaainnns. Centreville Day presents the Zombie Slouch 5K Run & Walk on Saturday. The event benefits DC Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Strollers and dogs are welcome! $25 for runners, $15 for walkers. 8 a.m. Saturday. St. John’s Church, 5649 Mt. Gilead Road, Centreville. It's all part of Centreville Day

Spooky Parks. Fairfax County Parks Authority is hosting several Halloween events, including a weekend full of activities at Frying Pan Farm Park. There will be standard farm harvesting events, including milking cows and goats and watching the cider press. There will also be a fall carnival with games, rides and fair food. Costs and times vary depending on activities. Through Sunday. 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon. Also at Fairfax Parks on Saturday: Preschool Pumpkins in the Park at Lake Fairfax Park and Fear-less Fest at Hidden Oaks Nature Center.

Chamber Music Reinterpreted. As part of the Wolf Trap’s Discovery Series, violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott perform a Founder’s Day Celebration concert. $40. 8 p.m. Friday at The Barns at Wolf Trap, 1635 Trap Road, Vienna. Also at The Wolf Trap this weekend: The Center for Education hosts a workshop for teachers titled “Movies, Music and Math: Creating Memorable Math Experiences.”

Jam and Adopt a Family. Pat McGee puts on a good show, and he is doing it for a good cause this weekend. The event Sunday evening supports Adopt a Family. McGee will be performing with Jason Adamo. From $25. 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Jammin Java, 227 Maple Avenue E., Vienna. Also at Jammin Java this weekend: Andrea Gibson brings her poetry slam talents on Thursday and Will Hoge hosts two album release shows on Friday with Nate Ihara and Saturday with Luke Brindley.

Gallery Gala. The Workhouse Arts Center and the Lorton Arts Foundation hosts the 3rd Annual Workhouse Arts Gala. The event includes a cocktail reception, silent auction and dinner in the McGuireWoods Gallery, along with dancing and a live band. $250. 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton.
