This general store, located on Clifton Road near Burke Lake Park, has been in business since the 1800s. From the road this store could easily be mistaken as just another Texaco station, but the generators, firearms, fishing lures, horse feed, snake repellent, groceries, beer, wine, rope, twine, guns and deli selections inside all suggest otherwise. The general store also houses a separate hardware store and plant nursery/garden center, which accounts for much of its business. In the summer, there's also a separate dairy bar.
A local landmark which strongly endorses the NRA, the General Store has hosted Tea Party meetings. Longtime owner Brian Bennett is a highly engaging, interesting member of the community.

I wish they would turn the lights on in this place, it's always dark. It also smells like fertilizer which is not the type of smell you want if you're selling food.
This little gas station is a great stop for gas but I also wish the owner would pull up all the advertising signs around the place, makes it look cluttered and dirty. Why do we need 20 real estate signs in front of the station? Preserve the country look and feel of the corner.
