Established on January 8, 1989, Antioch Baptist Church has been a beacon to its congregants and its community. Its…More first minister, John Q. Gibbs, prayed with friends for over a year while planning the church. Its first service was held at the Salvation Army's Chapel on Ox Road. Within the next six years, Pastor Gibbs purchased the wooded acreage near Burke Lake Park and built the church that houses Antioch Baptist. He died in 1995, but his memory is still honored for his Christian zeal, his good works and his love of God's word.

Under the guidance of Reverend Marshal L. Ausberry, who was chosen pastor in 1995, the church has continued to thrive. It now has more than 50 active ministries, which include programs for families, youth, men, women and singles. Other ministries include music, education and communications and media. The missions program helps the homeless, the sick and elderly and those in jail. Missions are also active in Zimbabwe, Brazil and Haiti. At home, Antioch Baptist has a well-organized, meticulously planned program for reaching out to newcomers as well as people who have lived in Fairfax Station all their lives.
