Canine Classics has been open for 20 years and owned by Sheila Franco for the past half decade. The cost of a…More full-service grooming (bath, haircut, nail trimming, glands expressed, ears cleaned, etc.) generally ranges from $75 to $150. When asked about her dog (and some cat) grooming business, Franco replies, "We have fifty-one years of experience between our four groomers, and we're all lifelong animal lovers. Kim owns a farm. We all have multiple animals, and we treat the animals like they're our own. We're really blessed that people around here love their animals." Kim Vandemark says that the best part of her job is "taking a dog that's six months overdue and getting it back to where it should be, and seeing how happy it is. They feel so much better without the dirt and the matted hair. They come in looking like a rat or a woolly mammoth and they leave looking a dog again. It's gratifying." Canine Classics grooms all sizes of dogs.

Christ United Methodist Church is a thoroughly modern church, complete with an excellent website on which one can…More hear recent CUMC sermons.</p> <p>The church emphasizes the social justice aspects of Christianity, and Pastor John Speight can be relied upon to address scripture in a thoughtful, interesting way, and more importantly, to connect the ancient passages to the dilemmas of the present day. For example, a recent service featured a film and discussion about sexual slavery in the modern world; another sermon discussed a socio-anthropological study conducted on the D.C. subway. Following from Christ, Speight's message is that "Our job is to preach the good news to the poor, to release the prisoners, to give sight to the blind, to give voice to the oppressed."</p> <p>The church features modern music and encourages "come as you are" dress. </p> <p>Christ United Methodist Church will eventually move to a larger church that will be built on Ox Road. Construction has not broken ground yet.</p>
