Congressman Connolly to Host Telephone Town Hall Tuesday

He wants to know what's on your mind. Register to participate.

U.S. Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-11th) may call you Tuesday evening to hear what is on your mind as part of his 17th telephone town hall. If the phone rings at 8 p.m., stay on the line to talk to the congressman. Want to ensure that you get called?  Click here to sign up ahead of time. Connolly told constituents in an email that more than 200,000 11th District residents have participated in one of these calls since 2009. He said that residents have told him they like the format since they can participate from home. Those who are unable to pose their question on the call will have the option of leaving a message and receiving a subsequent response, Connolly said.

Connolly, Murray Talk Immigration and More at Asian American Forum

The forum included candidates (or their representatives) from the 8th, 10th and 11th congressional districts.

Health care, immigration and the economy were hot-button issues at the Asian American Northern Virginia Candidate forum on Friday night that featured political candidates running in Virginia’s congressional and Senate races. The event was hosted by several Virginia Asian-American organizations and focused specifically on issues that affect the Asian-American community. Chris Perkins was absent so that he and his family could prepare for his daughter's wedding. For the 8th district, incumbent Jim Moran (D-8th) sent a representative, Austin Durr, in his place to face off against …

Connolly either you chose not to understand why we need an ID which to me would be amazing since you Congressman or you just do not care why you would need an ID and want to encourage people to falsely vote so they would vote for Democrats. You need an ID to prove who you are. If I go to a store and write a check I have to show an…   more ›

Letter to the Editor: Sequestration Cuts

Chairman of the 11th Congressional district Republican committee writes about sequestration.

Editor's Note: The following was submitted as a Letter to the Editor from Terry Wear, chairman of the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee. It is unedited.  Dear Editor, There have been numerous opportunities for Gerry Connolly to stop or slow the impending sequestration cuts that will result in tens of thousands of layoffs in Northern Virginia and the 11th District.  After voting for both versions of the Budget Control Act of 2011, which authorized this sequestration process; Connolly voted against several measures that would lessen the impact of the cuts, including an amendment authored by fellow Virginia Congressman Scott Rigell. These sequestration cuts disproportionately burden Northern Virginia and the defense industry …

Navid Roshan, many people have left comments that are perfectly viable responses to your rants, but you are as inflexible in accepting compromise as our current Congress. There is no place in politics for lunatics and others that refuse to see what's on the other side of the street (aisle, if you will, in the political vernacular). You choose to wear your blinders and abrasive demeanor and refuse…   more ›
