Preparing for U.S. monetary collapse, proposal from Del. Bob Marshall would weigh need for Commonwealth's own gold and silver coins.
A measure introduced by Virginia Del. Bob Marshall (R-Manassas) to study a Virginia currency is now in front of the state Senate after approval from the House of Delegates on Monday. The House voted, 65-32, for the study of a metallic-based monetary unit in the event the U.S. dollar crumbles. Read the entire bill, as approved by the House. Del. Dave Eileen Filler Corn (D-Fairfax Station) voted against the bill, and Republican Del. Tim Hugo (40th) voted for it. According to the bill, the committee would meet four times this year to "consider recommendations for legislation, with respect to the need, means and schedule for establishing a metallic-based monetary unit to serve as a contingency currency for the Commonwealth." Dear 41st District Voter, During this year's General Assembly session, I introduced House Joint Resolution 107 designating April 14, 2012 as the first annual “Hold Out for Hunger” Day in Virginia. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few facts about hunger in Virginia. Over 11.8% of Virginians struggle with food insecurity. This translates to over 900,000 Virginians being forced to choose between providing food for their families or paying their rent or mortgage, transportation or medical bills. These tough choices are being made everyday across the Commonwealth. Braddock District Supervisor forum also held Wednesday
Schools and colleges, transportation woes and complaints of unfair treatment out of Richmond took center stage Wednesday evening at a forum for state lawmakers and their political challengers at the Robinson Legislative Forum.
