It was a busy week for Fairfax County Police.
Fairfax County Police last week determined that a series of recent assaults in Lorton may be the work of a 'copycat groper'. In the most recent incident in Lorton, a 31-year-old woman was approached from behind at around 10:45 a.m. April 10, while walking near Timarand Court and Timarand Drive. The suspect touched the victim inappropriately, then fled and was not located by officers. The victim was not injured. A Lorton woman is in custody after allegedly breaking into an area home and allegedly attempting to assault the homeowner. Celeste Jones, 30, was arrested and charged with burglary with the intent to assault after allegedly trying to break into a home in the 7500 block of Woodside Lane in Lorton. A Lorton woman is unhurt after reporting that a man forced his way into her home Saturday night and stole cash and other items. At around 11 p.m., the 35-year-old victim was alone watching television in her home in the 7600 block of Wiley Drive, when there was a knock at the door. She answered, and the suspect allegedly pushed his way in. The victim reportedly left the home and called police. Find out more by reading our story. Two of his house guests allegedly stole his shoes.
A 16-year-old is in custody after he and a group of friends allegedly held a 15-year-old Fairfax Station boy at knifepoint and robbed him of his shoes. On Sunday, Jan. 20, the victim invited a friend to his home in the 6600 block of Rutledge Drive, and the friend arrived with two other friends, according to Fairfax County Police. When it was time to leave, two of the suspects grabbed the victim and one of them pulled out a knife. "They stole his shoes and fled," according to a police incident report. "The third juvenile also fled although apparently not involved in the robbery." The victim was not injured. One 16-year-old boy was charged with robbery, and the case is being investigated.

Fairfax County Police were called last Wednesday to the 7900 block of Gunston Woods Place in Lorton after receiving reports of gunshots fired. At around 7:45 p.m., officers found that the suspect and the victim knew each other and had gotten into an argument. The suspect fired several shots as his guest left the home. No one was injured. Reminds me of a Yogi Berra story - when Yogi was a rookie for the Yankees the box score of one game showed that Yogi got one hit in four at bats. One reporter said to Yogi that he thought Yogi went two for four. He asked Yogi, was that a typographical error? No, said Yogi, it was a clean single to left.
