On the above map, the addresses are block numbers, not specific home or business addresses. The following items are from recent police updates through Sept. 28 from the West Springfield, Franconia and Sully police districts of the Fairfax County Police Department. Burglary (marked in blue on above map), 5700 block of Smoke Rise Lane, 9/20/12, 1:25 p.m. A resident reported someone entered her home and stole her purse. Entry was made through an unlocked door. In separate and unrelated incidents: Larcenies (marked in red on above map) No vehicles were reported stolen at the time.

Hundreds were still without power Tuesday afternoon.
UPDATE: 1 p.m. Tuesday Power Outages Hundreds in Fairfax Station and Clifton are still without power on Tuesday. According to Dominion Virginia Powers’ interactive outages map, Fairfax Station homes near Hampton Road and Henderson Road seem to be the most severely effected by the outages. As of Tuesday, about 400 customers are without power in that area. That is down from over 600 on Monday. Another 10 or so homes are without power in the Clifton area, according to NOVEC’s outages information. “It could’ve been a whole lot worse,” said Clifton’s Mayor Bill Holloway. “I think with the weekend everyone could get out of the house for a little bit and come back at night. Storm damage in Fairfax Station/Clifton on June 30, 2012.
Many trees were found downed in Clifton and Fairfax Station, with one tree on Newman Road and Fairfax Station road fallen on top of a power line. Crews were at the scene working to repair the fallen line where there was no way to pass. The town of Clifton's Main Street area seemed to have avoided the crush of the wind, but smaller residential side streets had many fallen branches and brush in the roads. See what events are happening in our area.
If you’re thinking about how to celebrate the Fourth of July next Wednesday, the town of Clifton and beyond is offering some ways to celebrate. Clifton will be having a parade down Main Street beginning at 4 p.m. with a potluck following the events. If you want to venture out of Fairfax Station to catch some fireworks, the city of Fairfax is hosting an evening show and fireworks at Fairfax High School beginning at 7 p.m. , with free admission. They will have live music, with the fireworks set to go off at 9:20 p.m. Smoking, alcohol and dogs (except for service dogs) are not allowed. National Weather Service forecasts hottest day will be Sunday.
Late June will feel like late August this weekend as temperatures reach the upper 90s Thursday through Monday. The high temperature will be 93 with sun on Thursday. Temperatures will climb to 98 Friday, 99 Saturday and 101 Sunday. Temperatures will drop back to 96 Monday and 92 Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service extended forecast. Friday’s skies will be partly cloudy, and there is a slight chance of thunderstorms Friday afternoon, evening and overnight. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and mostly clear. The humidity will hover around 50 percent during the day, rising slightly overnight from Thursday through Monday. Patch has precinct results for Fairfax Station and Clifton.
About 73 percent of voters in Fairfax Station and Clifton precincts gave their support to former Virginia Gov. and U.S. Senate candidate George Allen during Tuesday's Republican primary. Chris Perkins, candidate for the 11th congressional district, also won 68 percent of the Fairview precinct. The win came despite a low voter turnout in Fairfax County and across Virginia: fewer than 5.1 percent of active voters statewide cast ballots on Tuesday. In Fairfax County, the average was about 5.4 percent. The turnout was only slightly higher than the state and county averages of about 5 percent for March's Republican presidential primary. It was probably one of the hottest marathons on record, with runners battling unseasonably warm 84-degree heat in April in Boston, but several Fairfax Station and Clifton residents competed at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Fairfax Station and Clifton residents who ran the marathon, and their times as reported by Boston Marathon officials were: Kenyan native Wesley Korir, 29, crossed the finish line first on Monday with a time of 2:12:40. As the winner, Korir received $150,000. News stories noted that he came to the United States to attend college from an impoverished family, and used to run five miles to school each day.

Seemed like power was restored on Hampton rd starting from over fountain head bridge on out to 123. There's trucks parked there right now, though no sign of any much needed work from bridge on Hampton to henderson. I am really hoping 1 more day will get that done.   more ›
