High School Football Results

Results from the Friday games for South County and Robinson.

The South County Stallions played a close game against the West Potomac Wolverines, but lost 39-49 in Lorton Friday night.  The Stallions are now 0-2 for the season.  They will play T. C. Williams at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.  The game is at T. C. Williams. Robinson Secondary School played their first home game of the season Friday.  During halftime, the Robinson Rams Athletics Boosters hosted a ribbon cutting for the new synthetic turf fields at the school. Robinson beat T. C. Williams 40-21.  The Rams are now 1-2 for the season. The team's next game is Friday, Sept. 21, at Westfield High School.  The game begins at 7:30 p.m.

West Potomac Beats South County

The Wolverines' record is now 3-0 after beating the South County Stallions 49-39.

After spending most of the game neck and neck Friday night, the West Potomac Wolverines beat the South County Stallions 49-39 in Lorton. Before the game started, Gerry Pannoni — head coach for South County — said he was concerned about West Potomac's quarterback, Caleb Williams (#17), their running back Demornay Pierson-El (#5) and their kicker Chris Blewitt (#16). "The key is running back Demornay Pierson-El," said Pannoni.  "In their first two games, he made a bunch of big plays," he said. "Pierson-El, the quarterback and the kicker can control the game just by field position." In turn, Wolverines Head Coach Jeremiah Davis had his concerns about South County. Glad to get more details here than the WPost offers. One thing for the writer, and I noticed it last week, too: when a team scores a touchdown they then get a chance to go for what is called an "extra point" or "point after touchdown." Robinson Loses to West Springfield

The Rams had their second loss of the season Friday night.

The Robinson Rams lost to West Springfield on Friday night, 38-14.  The game was played at West Springfield. The loss puts the team at 0-2 overall.  They lost to Stone Bridge 31-14 on August 31. This week Robinson has its first home game of the season, playing T. C. Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14
