Robinson Grad Returns Home to Face the Nats

Veteran reliever Javier Lopez played at the University of Virginia before beginning a pro career that includes helping Boston and San Francisco win the World Series.

Javier Lopez, a product of Fairfax Little League, sat in the third-base dugout of the San Francisco Giants at Nationals Park before Tuesday's game against Washington. He looked out at the field during batting practice and envisioned more than just a three-game series between first-place teams in the National League. "My friends have told me this could be the (preview of) the National League Championship Series. That would be nice,"  Lopez, a 1995 graduate of Robinson Secondary, said with a smile. "The teams are playing hot right now and that would be great." A left-handed reliever, Lopez is used to being with winners. Robinson Grad in Spring Training with the Astros

Paul Clemens' spring includes training with the Astros and the birth of his first child.

Paul Clemens knew that his first spring training with the Houston Astros would be eventful. A right-handed relief pitcher and Robinson graduate, Clemens was traded by the Atlanta Braves to Houston in July 2011. He enters this year as the no. 5 prospect in the Houston farm system, according to Baseball America. "I don't have anything to worry about. I am staying quiet and listening to what I can," said Clemens, standing in the Houston clubhouse before a spring training game in Kissimmee, Fla., against the Detroit Tigers on March 11.
