GOP presidential nominee to campaign in toss-up state on eve of Election Day.
UPDATE (Sunday 5:55 p.m.): The location for the political rally with former Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president, has changed from the outdoor venue at George Mason University to its Patriot Center. The rally at the Patriot Center, which seats 10,000, is scheduled for the day before Election Day. Tickets are required for the free event and are available online. Romney's sons were in Fairfax County Sunday campaigning for their dad. They were accompanied by Virginia Gov. Former GOP presidential nominee spoke at American Legion Post 177.
U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) campaigned for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney today at the American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax. McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, compared his former opponent, President Barack Obama, to President Jimmy Carter, a one-term Democrat who occupied the White House from 1977-1981. "We need a new commander in chief," McCain said. "What happens in Northern Virginia is going to determine, probably, the outcome of this race." Grassroots campaign event set for Friday morning.
Fresh off this week's debate appearance with rival Mitt Romney, President Barack Obama returns to Northern Virginia on Friday, campaigning at George Mason University's Recreation and Athletic Complex. Obama recently campaigned at GMU. The grassroots event is set for Friday, when doors open at 8:45 a.m. at the complex, located at 4350 Bainster Court. Tickets will be required for entrance to the campaign rally. One ticket will be distributed ona first-come, first-served basis. Public Policy Polling shows Romney with 51-45 advantage with male vote in the state.
With the election less than two months away, President Barack Obama leads the state of Virginia by 5 points, 51 to 46, in a match-up with former Gov. Mitt Romney, according to a poll released Sunday by Public Policy Polling of Raleigh, NC. "Barack Obama continues to look like the definite favorite in Virginia," said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling, in a news release. "And it's hard to imagine a scenario where Obama would win Virginia but lose the election." The Virginians who are "most excited" about the presidential race?
