Fairfax Station's Week Ahead: Parking in Clifton, Camping at Burke Lake Park and More!

What's on the docket this week in Fairfax Station?

These summer weeks fly by, don't they? So, here's a sneak peak at what you can look forward to this week in the area of Fairfax Station, Virginia: 

1. The Planning Commission for the Town of Clifton is meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m at the Acacia Lodge at 7135 Main St. in Clifton. Topics for discussion include future parking alternatives in Clifton. Find out more here.

2. Want to go camping this summer? Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station has a large camping site (limited to no more than seven people and two tents per party) and it costs $28 per night per person. Find out more here.

3. Have you been to the Clifton Cafe? It’s got an assortment of crepes and some of the best coffee in town. The cafe, located at 7144 Main St. in Clifton.

4. This weekend is a good time for back-to-school shopping! From Aug. 2-4, you can enjoy Virginia’s August Sales Tax Holiday on School Supplies and Clothing. During this three-day period, purchases of qualifying school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and purchases of qualifying clothing and footwear selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax. Some retailers are choosing to offer tax breaks on additional items as well to lure in shoppers, so you could score yourself some good deals on lots of shopping this weekend. 5. There’s a big re-sale sale on Sunday at the Congregation Adad Reyim at 6500 Westbury Oaks Court in Springfield. They’re going to be selling children’s items, household items and adult clothing. Want to donate to the synagogue? Bring your items by Saturday, Aug. 3.
